Quality Control Options


Our processes are designed to flag during the digitsation process any issues that occur - but of course it is essential to always check content following any active step. Depending on our client's needs we offer a number of different QC services;



Five Point Spot Check - all assets digitised receive at the bare minimum a five-point spot check – where metadata from the ingest (either channel condition status from VTRs or notes from the prep / scanner) and the report from a file based QC is used to target those checks.

Run Time QC - For those clients requiring a more thorough QC, we can QC content on a real-time basis – either by viewing the high-resolution source media, or by reviewing a high-resolution proxy of the content. The latter allows for a different staffing model to be adopted for a more cost effective approach, which is often very applicable when video levels are not needing to be checked for compliance with EBU standards, etc. We also have two edit suites on site for full runtime QC of content on graded monitors at resolutions up to and including 4K.

Automated File Based QC - The most commonly chosen method of QC by our clients is that of an automated QC process, passing the digital media through a set of checks that can be tailored to suit the nature of the content and the requirements of the output platform. As this checks can include practically every property of the video, audio and file itself - this process can often yield a large quantity of information that requires subsequent engagement by a QC operator to investigate.

We utilise the Quales QC tool thanks to its support for a wide range of artefact detection that many other tools do not support (specifically such things as second generation digibeta dropout) – and its consistent performance and accuracy. The output of this process provides a PDF report which is stored alongside the media, but Cubix (our orchestration platform) also receives metadata directly (complete with thumbnails and graphs for the faults) so that this can be displayed in our portals and exported to XML / Excel as needed at the point of delivery.
